High Blood Pressure is a hidden killer
Blood Pressure
High blood pressure can also be called hypertension; both words mean the same thing. If you have blood pressure measurement that is consistently higher than 150/90 mmHg, you are considered to be suffering from high blood pressure.
High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and dementia. This means that if you have high blood pressure you are at greater risk of developing these diseases than someone whose blood pressure is normal. Everyone who has high blood should make changes to their lifestyle. In a few people, these changes can be enough to lower blood pressure to a level where prescribed tablets may not be needed; lifestyle changes make them even more effective.
Lifestyle changes can and should be adopted by the whole family, as increasing evidence suggests that this will lower blood pressure and prevent it rising in later life.
